Physical Education

At Brigg Primary School we aim to provide an inclusive, broad and balanced PE curriculum that develops a child’s knowledge, skill and understanding.   We believe we give children the tools and understanding required to make a positive impact in their own physical health and well-being.

We want all children to experience a wide variety of sports and physical skills which will enhance life-long fitness and life choices. We ensure ALL children will benefit, whether through enhancing existing skills, learning new skills or being introduced to new sports.

Our children will have opportunities to compete in sports and other activities that build character and help embed values such as fairness, self-belief and respect. We are passionate about the need to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, equity of play to embed lifelong values.

We promote developing a positive growth mindset and the determination to persevere with activities that may once have felt too difficult.  We provide additional sporting opportunities beyond the lessons within after school clubs, intra and inter-school competitions and festivals to develop links with local clubs and our community.
