Science
At Brigg Primary School, we believe that the teaching of science provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Science in our school aims to develop each child’s natural curiosity by encouraging all pupils to ask questions and conduct their own scientific enquiries. This enables children to improve their understanding of the world around them and to learn to respect living organisms, local and global environments. We also believe that it is important for children to understand the history of science, focusing on the determination of influential scientific figures and movements; particularly when overcoming obstacles and skepticism to develop and demonstrate groundbreaking and influential theories. At Brigg Primary, we intend to inspire the next generation of scientists and to provide them with the skills, knowledge and mindset needed to achieve their goals. It is also our intention to teach children about the application of Science in the wider-world and to build aspirations by teaching all children about a range of potential careers involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
As part of our Ogden Trust Partnership, children were invited to design a rocket to land on Mars by drawing and labelling its specific features. Some children even chose to build their very own model of their designs which were amazing! Winners were announced this week and prizes allocated. Well done to all who submitted an entry, it was VERY difficult to choose our winners and runner ups!

Year 5 and 6 took part in a workshop ran by Elevation X where they built their own racing cars, exploring different ways to power them and looking at solar power etc.
